Content Delivery Network (CDN)

Content Delivery Network (CDN) is an overlay network of computers that contain copies of data, placed at various points in a network to maximize bandwidth for access to customer data across the network. A customer has access to a copy of the data close to the customer, as opposed to all clients that access the same central server in order to avoid bottlenecks.

Content types include web objects, objects for download (media files, software, documents), applications, media and other real-time Internet delivery components (DNS, routing and database queries) .
